Today Capts OC and Derek joined me as guests aboard friend Joe Seegers boat for a day of wahoo fishing. The bite was slow but steady and seas were calm. A nice day. We fished just north of the Steeples. Capt. Brant McMullan OIFC

Team Do Work hit the back waters on our trusty 2000 Yamaha powered Polar, the "Tale Chaser". We were in hopes of getting in on some of the Red Drum action at the Jetties, but the wind had other plans.
With a live well full of finger mullet we elected to stake claim under the Sunset Bridge. All we caught was a nice blue crab and a clam. Looks like we may need to hone our in shore skills.
But Camdyn wanted to keep them both, announcing she was going to eat them for supper. Capt. Jeff (daddy) explained to her that if we killed the crab she would have to eat it. We don't kill creatures just for the fun of it. She enthusiastly said she was gonna eat it. Look at the pictures below. This young lady not only wears Salt Life. She lives it and loves it!!
Below are pictures of OIFC Pro Staffer Brandon Sauls and his twins at the Jetties today. Brandon said if you were there you got bit!!
Jimmy Carros sent me these pictures from somewhere in the Neuse River yesterday. I would say that the big red drum bite is on! It is time to plan your trip if you like to fish around the outer banks, pamplico sound, cedar island, etc...Thanks for the report Jimmy! Awesome fishing! See ya on the water!
Brent Elliott and his son Matt joined me yesterday in hopes of finding a little redfish action. We started off the day as spectators as Capt. Jeff Williamson caught a couple of slot reds just up the creek from us. We made several adjustments moving around, but could not get anything going in the creek. We decided to move on out to the jetties looking for some serious action. We made our first drift and hooked up with a 32 inch redfish. I called Capt. Jeff to let him know a little action was happening out there. Capt Jeff reported that he was killing the reds in another creek. A tough call to make...join Capt. Jeff to catch several reds or stick it out at the jetties for a 40 incher? We elected to stay out at the jetties. We did not catch several reds, but we broke Matt's biggest redfish record three times. We were just a half inch shy on our 40 inch mark as our third fish of the day was 39 1/2 inches. Regardless, there is nothing more fun than tangling with one of these bruisers! Thanks for fishing with me guys! See ya on the water!
Below is a picture of Capt. Michelle Drake and 1st Mate "Little Billy" Berg with a monster wahoo they caught fishing aboard "The Law". I am sure the "boat driver" was Jeff Drake. When I get more information I will pass it on.
If you have a pic & report you would like to see posted send it to me at firstname.lastname@example.org.

The OIFC's own Shannon Reel of the "Reel Wet" proudly displays her 1st drum, while Trent holds a trigger fish and a flounder they caught over the weekend.
Ya'll need to stop by the OIFC and meet Shannon. She, along with Liz Inman are our newest employees. Liz fishes the "Black Gold" Yellowfin along with her boyfriend Jordan.
Wow! The waterway was busy today. It was a beautiful day and I expect tomorrow will be the same. The fishing action was pretty steady with plenty of red drum hanging around. I did not make it to the jetties today, but heard the bite was doing well out there. I had a good friend, Mr. Joe Zurad send me a nice picture of his first red caught at the jetties. I stayed closer to home picking at the reds in the middle of the slot around 22 inches. We picked up a few short flounder as well, but no keepers. There is bait everywhere...I caught some nice size peanut pogies today, shrimp by the buckets, and mullet blind folded. Take your pick as which bait to use. I do believe the fish will eat any of the above baits if you get it in front of them. First part of this week is looking great for fishing. See ya on the water!

If you have wondered about the Troll Pro and how it works, check out this footage we took while live bait fishing. This Troll Pro was mounted on the downrigger. We did catch a King and a couple of large Spanish, but check out how many fish there were actually down there and look at how they are reacting to our bait. Makes you think ???
