"Fall brawl " | Choice of Two / OIFC | 10/21/13

This year was as good as it gets when it comes to fall fishing.. The Fall Brawl was a blast for everyone with any size boat as the fish were chewing from the beach to the stream . Team choice of two/Oifc fished on Saturday and headed to the hammer and caught teen after teen after teen.. Moved into the jungle and caught 20s then after a good buddy's help around 3 o'clock we found a decent bite close to the beach and landed a 25lber and let 8 others just like it go .. Would like to thank the Oifc for a great tournament .

"Team OIFC back on the road" | Real-Time Update | 10/19/13

Barrett, Brayden, Rube and I are on the road to fish in Venice, LA for a few days. Fishing is great at OIB and we hate leaving when it's so good, but we have had this trip planned AND unless the 200# yellowfin tuna show up at Ocean Isle then we should be heading toward new adventure. Stay tuned. Brayden is making sure equipment is in good shape and crew is entertained. Capt. Brant McMullan OIFC

"More Drum Action" | Do Work / OIFC | 10/17/13

My friend & my Farm Bureau Ins. agent Ryan Neuwirth just had to get in on the red drum action.  Ryan is an avid local in shore fisherman.  Capt. Brant couldn't help himself either.  Brant said they were thick on the beach just outside the Shallotte Inlet yesterday. He said drop a 2 oz Carolina Rig with a pogy and hang on!!!

"FALL BRAWL" | Real-Time Update | 10/17/13

The Williams family and friends joined first mate Ben Morris and myself in an all out king mackerel bite on Saturday. Crew leader Todd Williams and I talked a good bit at the captains meeting about what our game plan was going to be and where we would be going. We came to the conclusion that we were going to catch bait early as possible and decide on where to go from there. On tournament day, we broke the inlet, caught bait, and as always my stubborn ways told me to go South West. For some reason that area has always produced fish for me so off we went. We arrived at the 70' Hole deployed one bait and hooked up. First mate Ben preceded to deploy more baits and before you know it, we were tripled up. We caught around 7 fish before we got our big bite. While hooked up to a Cobia and a smaller king, I asked Ben to reel in one of our baits, put a fresh bait on and drop it way back. Right after Ben did that the line screamed out and we were on. After 20 minutes of Sam Williams' fantastic angling skills, we boated the fish. We kept fishing throughout the day boating 5 more kings and releasing several others. We headed back to the weigh in hoping that our fish was in the top ten. After she hit the scales at 31.45 we were satisfied with our day. We ended up placing 9th Overall, 3rd Lady Angler and 2nd in the Junior angler division. Ben and myself had a blast with the Williams family and can't wait to fish with them next year. Good job to everyone else that fished in the tournament. The king bite is on full blast right now. Come on down ad experience the action.

"New fishery emerging- beach Drum" | Real-Time Update | 10/17/13

New world class fishery right here at Ocean Isle going on now. Pitch live Menhaden on Carolina rig into pods of Menhaden along beach front and let sit on bottom- hang on- 30-50" Red Drum guaranteed. Few things: use non offset circle hook always, use 2oz egg weight with 50# flouro leader, recommend 20-30# class outfit, handle fish as little as possible, turn off motor when around bait pods and drift, be courteous to other fishermen as they too enjoy the fishery. This can be a long lasting and healthy fishery if we take care of the fish. Not sure how long it will last- days, weeks or months. Weather looks really good this weekend. Come and enjoy the great fishing- drum, king, wahoo-- it is on! Capt. Brant McMullan OIFC Capt. Brant McMullan OIFC

"Fall Kings" | Real-Time Update | 10/17/13

Today's action was fast and furious as Eddie and Howard boated their limit of kings in a couple of hours. A few fish missed hooks as they skied our baits and the hooks pulled on two others. Really an awesome day of fall king fishing.

"Day at the Dock" | Choice of Two / OIFC | 10/17/13

It's tuff but fun when I am trying to paint on the dock and keep getting interrupted by guys bring in fish.  Picture one is a king caught aboard the Choice of Two Cape Horn Captained by Corey Bellamy.

Picture 2 shows 3 of the best, unkept secrets in south Brunswicj flounder fishermen there are with 2 of the 10 big kings they brought by the OIFC to weigh.  I do believe the largest took the Rodeo Leader Board at 6.5 lbs.

Then the Grady White pulls with several kings one of which was 22.5 lbs...

And at last!!!!  My safety minded, toe saving paint job around the dock cleats.  Thanks to everyone for dropping by with their fish.
