"Day Late & Dollar Short" | Do Work / OIFC | 10/28/13

A day late. Had Danial Simmons & Jim Day of the Reel McCoy Contender caught  this wahoo yesterday he would have won $15,000 in Martini's Hook-a-Hoo.  This fish puts Daniel in 2nd place behind Corey Bellamy and ahead of Bob Newell in the OIFC Rodeo.

That makes me upset for Daniel and crew, as they have entered the Hook A Hoo several years in a row now. Hopefully they'll bring us a 90 pounder next year! www.hookahoo.com

"Wahoo " | Choice of Two / OIFC | 10/27/13

OIFC staff and friends did some wahoo fishing today aboard OIFC World Cat. We fished 170-230' and had 10ish Wahoo bites and boated 3 on the 35-40 pound class. It was a nice day on the water. Capt. Brant McMullan OIFC Capt. Brant McMullan OIFC

Steve - JJ, Next time you guys come to town feel free to drop me an email in advance and I will do my best to relay to you what is going on within the flounder circuit. Seems like late summer through late fall the bite can really turn on. My email is brandon@icnd.net. Thanks! Brandon

Capt. Rickey 10/29/2013

Steve, Bonecrusher does not run charters although he is on the OIFC Pro Staff

JJ 10/29/2013

I'd book a trip too. I tote a 17 foot Scout down to OIB three or four times a year from the Mtns. and want to learn the AR's for flounder. If your're in NC MTN's and wanna catch a native trout call me. 828-429-7909.

Steve Chase 10/28/2013

Does Bonecrusher ever take out charters to fish for flounder??? I have had no luck in trying to catch them in 13 trips!!! Thanks, Steve referee@atmc.net

"Fall fishing report from Scott Swell" | OIFC World Cat / Carolina Cat | 10/24/13

> > Fall fishing with my son Austin and friend Mike. Loaded up the boat and went in search for some meat for the freezer. Broke Shallotte inlet and headed towards Holden beach to find bait and one throw of the net and Mike loaded up the livewell with nice size pogies. Got everything cleaned up and headed offshore to about 70’ of water where everything looked fishy, put the spread out and trolled around all the other boats in the same area with the same idea. We had a couple short strikes that just missed the hooks, and we finally got one on and she ran about 150 yds before Austin finally got her turned and the fight was on, 15 minutes later Mike stuck the gaff in her and she was in the box. After 4 more nice size kings and a dozen shark we headed inshore to scout for Black Bass, caught a couple keepers, but mostly too small to keep. The weather and the company was great. Love making those memories. Thanks, Scott

"Confessing- " | Real-Time Update | 10/23/13

OK- maybe that was a bad joke. I've been fielding calls this am on where the Tuna bite was at. Well, it was on live bait and it was just 9 miles out, but we are stationed out of Venice, LA- I posted a few days ago that we were headed down here but for those who missed that report and are packing up the boat- sorry. However, as I know I have said before- Venice, LA is the best all around fishing in the mainland US ( barely mainland as it is at the end of the Earth it seems). The Yellowfin Tuna fishing is world class year round but October and November the big ones come close as they feed on the Mullet filtering out of the Mississippi River. We had 2lb Mullet flying under a kite when 200#s of Tuna comes up and grabs it out of the sky- very cool. We've been contemplating set up an OIFC outpost down here and guiding some trips in the Fall. Anyone be interested? Picture is of a nice fish but its the "little one". Brayden said it was "just his size".

I'll make the trip. Brant...think the combo inshore/offshore is a great idea. Make the trip to include transportation-lodge-fishing....We can bring our refreshments!

bob 10/24/2013

set it up boys, Larry Sapinholur said he like to try that action too!

bob 10/24/2013

Thats a dirty trick to pull Brant. You guys catchem up. I have visions of tuna poke and spicy tuna rolls dancing in my head.

Tripp Blazer 10/23/2013

Brant - I think that's a great idea. If you could offer a package of inshore and offshore and coordinate lodging I bet you would have a ton of OIFC faithful join you. I was thinking about Venice today but the usual "well its too far, I don't know anyone, no one to trust" crept back. If you could alleviate those anxieties, we'd be all over it.

Capt. Rickey 10/23/2013

I will be the Dock Commander...No to be confused with the Duck Commander

Joe Seegers 10/23/2013

I like the way Brayden thinks! Pretty fishing, there.

"Saturday Live Baiting" | Do Work / OIFC | 10/23/13

Good morning.

Garrett Holden and I started out near the OIB pier catching bait, watching all the drum fisherman and dodging rain drops. A window of opportunity opened and we ran at 30 knots on slick seas to the 90’s. There were about 10 boats there and before I could get the third bait out we had two lines screaming. The boys did great battling with some quality fish which we gaffed and then we high fived. A small squall came up, the wind shifted and we decided to head to the canals at OIB. While it was a short trip we all had fun and have special memories. -By Keith Williams

Thanks for the report Keith
