Below is a picture of Bonecrusher Sauls holding one of the many red fish Kyle Hughes caught at the Jetties.  I was told there was fish after fish being caught and you had to take a number to get in the drift line.

"Monster Flounder" | Real-Time Update | 10/17/12

Check out this doormat flounder caught over the weekend by Ocean Isle Beach angler Ron Binetti. The giant flounder weighed in at 8.7lbs. Bonecrusher a nd Dr Wallen better slide over. If I'm not mistaken Ron is at the top of the rodeo leaderboard in both the flounder and redfish divisions.

"SKA National Championship free seminar" | OIFC World Cat / Carolina Cat | 10/16/12

Capt Brant has announced he will be doing a free seminar at OIFC for anyone who will be fishing the SKA National King Mackeral Championship in Biloxi Miss. The seminar will be Saturday Nov 3 and Brant will share with everyone what you need to know on fishing this tourney[and the secret of how you win Biloxi back to back national championships]. For anyone considering  fishing the tourney, if you haven't done it before, it is the promised land of big kings, and lots of them. The key to winning the tourney is to cull thru the 40's to get to the 50's[or even a 74]. It's an amazing experience for avid King fishermen, and a good time to boot. Come join us at OIFC Nov 3.

Capt. Chris Dew and 1st Mate Derreck Treffinger were joined today aboard the World Cat by Milton Bailey, Lew Hankes, Kevin Cotter, George James, Ann Turner and Henry Huie, Jr. for a very productive fishing charter to the River Channel.  They landed these kings using pogeys.  Great trip folks and thanks for fishing with the OIFC.

"Way Behind" | Tiberias - 22' | 10/14/12

I have been falling behind in keeping our inshore reports fresh. I will try to give you a quick highlight of this weeks past action. Starting on Sunday...Shane and Heather joined me in the afternoon catching several redfish, black drum, and a very large stingray. The action was steady for the whole 4 hour trip. Monday a cold front really shut things down and not much fishing got done. Tuesday I spent the day strapped to a tree and repairing the damage of vandals on the property in which I hunt. On Wednesday Capt. Chris Dawson invited me to go King fishing with him up towards Yaupon. Again, the cold front still had things a little out of sorts. We ended up finding three large spanish for the dinner table. Radio talk indicated pretty much the same action at the old sea bouy and lighthouse rocks area. Thursday my arm was twisted to go fish the Jetties. Cary and I landed 6 redfish with our smallest around 38 inches and the biggest reaching the 45 inch mark. Absolutely an awesome bite going on down there right now. I have heard the same kind of action in several locations...nearshore ledges, nearshore structures and wrecks, and Murrells Inlet jetties have all produced these large reds lately. Did not fish Friday, but the reports coming in suggested that the Jetty bite was even better. Saturday I had the priviledge of taking Mr. and Mrs. Garrett fishing for a few hours. The wind was blowing and it was a bit chilly. I decided not to go towards the Jetties and headed for the cover of the Shallotte River. The action was pretty steady with redfish 15 to 17 inches and we found a couple of nice black drum for the dinner table. All in All the action is as expected for Fall time. The Flounder are hanging around, but they are scattered. On a positive note the ones being caught are rather large. We weighed in two at the OIFC this weekend weighing 6.8 and 8.1 pounds. Well that is this weeks wrap on the inshore reporting. Thank you guys for tuning in and hope to keep fresh reports coming your way. See ya on the water!

"Super Syd" | Get Busy | 10/14/12

Miss Sydney Sauls came to the OIFC and proudly told me she caught a big red drum.  I'm not sure who was the proudest Sydney or her dad Bonecrusher.  I know I am happy for my little Crossfit buddy!

By the way as I am posting this I am watching Sydney and Sloan's mom win Dancing With The Brunswick County Stars.  They are a whole family of stars.

"Fish Fry " | Get Busy | 10/14/12

The Fishing Report always has pictures of the many flounder Capt. Tommy Helms catches.  Not only is Tommy a great fisherman, a colorful character, but he is a good man who enjoys life and sharing it with his friends.  Below are some pictures of a fish fry Tommy had for his many friends.  This reporter regrettably had to miss the good fish and fellowship.  Maybe next time.

Capt. Tommy Helms sent these pictures in and wanted to know if anyone could id. this fish.  Please don't load Capt. Brant's email up or I'll have to walk the plank.  If you know drop by the store and let me in on the secret.

"Jetties Drum" | Get Busy | 10/14/12

Mr. Rusty Russ stopped by the OIFC to buy some 90 oct ethenal free Marathon fuel and showed me the picture below of the drum his son-in-law Jimmy Pendergrass caught while fishing with Rust's son Andy and Rusty today at the Little River Jetties.

Sounded just like a NASCAR driver when I plugged our fuel.

"Wishful Thinking Strikes Again" | OIFC World Cat / Carolina Cat | 10/13/12

Team Wishful Thinking decided to brave the cool north wind today and fished near shore.  For the 2nd day in the row they brought a king to the OIFC Docks.  This time they found pogies in the Little River Jetties and caught a 22.6 lb king behind the jetties just off Waites Island.  This was Zach James 1st king.

Thank you guys for stopping by the OIFC and letting us weigh and get pictures of your fish.  Congratulations Zach.  Now you're hooked.

What a gorgeous day on the water.  Although Barrett gets the glory for holding this fish, it is actually the first fish that I have solely angled since my accident.  It's a great way to mark my comeback.  Again thanks to all for the inspiration and kind words.  Also, the weather looks awesome Sunday and Monday.  The King bite was hot at Lighthouse Rocks early this am and then we moved to the Shark Hole where the bite was red hot.  Come and join us in the fun.  The bite should continue at these locations.
