"still hunting" | Real-Time Update | 11/04/12

Team oifc Biloxi is right on track. Ran several hundred miles in the last t wo days and have hardly sniffed a king mackerel. With that said, never over look the value of knowing where they aren't. Today the weather was great an d we were able to load up on good bait that we will use in the tournament. We did catch a couple kings up to 35lbs. Down here that's like a 15lber at home. Still work to be done but we are closing in.

"Trout???" | Tiberias - 22' | 11/04/12

It is no big secret that I love targeting trout with artificial lures. I have had the priviledge of sharing my knowledge and techniques with several clients over the years. There is always a little learning curve to overcome, but once you get the feel for it, GAME ON! I took a guy from Germany yesterday, it was his second time ever holding a fishing pole. Tobyah caught a carolina slam yesterday and had our largest trout around 3 pounds. We ended the day keeping 7 trout, but had quite a few long releases and some short fish. We also had a hand full of 17 inch red drum that are super fun on light tackle. Jimmy and Tobyah both caught a flounder to complete inshore slams, Ethan worked on several trout and red drum. Thank you guys for choosing the OIFC and giving myself the priviledge of being your guide for the day. I enjoyed it! See ya on the water!

Ross, Cody, and Tony joined me Thursday evening for some trout action. We started off very quickly and stayed with the trout most of the afternoon. In fact, we had our limit of trout about 2 hours into the trip. I would estimate that we caught in between 30 to 40 trout with a flounder and 5 redfish in the mix. Again, every fish was caught on artificial lures. Which ones? As always, 4" Sea Shads by Bass Assassin with 1/8oz. jighead in various colors. Ross and Cody have already put a dent in my stock of lures here at the store, so you better hurry while supplies last. Also, Cody is looking for a Tennesse hat, he said he feels like Bill Dance after Thursday's fishing. LOL! I am not sure how long this action is going to stay with us. Last year we caught trout like this consistently through Christmas. I hope the trout stay with us for a while, I love it! See ya on the water!

"Wahoo!" | N/A | 11/03/12

Beautiful day today in the Gulf.  Team OIFC is prepping for the SKA's Pro Champioship and National Championship in Biloxi, MS.  Today we did some running.  Not sure total mileage but we left out of Biloxi this morning and headed west to Louisiana and then out the Mississippi river.  Not a whole lot of king mackerel fishing today, mostly just bait collecting.  We did cross paths with this monster wahoo midday.  You'd be amazed at the sounds a speedmaster will make when a 70lb wahoo is on the other end.  Wow!  Tomorrow is more bait and maybe a little pre-fishing.  The weather is magnificent.  Unfortunately supposed to go down hill on Tuesday just in time for the pro championship.  Oh well, enjoying it while we can.

Black drum Red drum ,speckle trout and flounder. Tide rips and deep holes. any tide as long as the water is moving.
